Shop
Pick up a unique handcrafted product inspired by the Museum collections to remember your visit, at the Museum Shop, called the Palace Atelier. Our products are designed in the palace studio and created by master craftspersons, and draw from the varied and rich craft skills of Rajasthan. Your purchases also help us support non-profit initiatives such as the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation, that provide livelihood opportunities to rural communities, with a special focus on women. The Shop also stocks our publications, postcards and small souvenirs.
Eat
The Baradari Restaurant serves sumptuous Indian and international cuisine, in refined and luxurious surroundings. Recently renovated by Studio Lotus, one of India’s leading design practices, it wraps around the courtyard of what was once the historic service court of the City Palace. With cooling water cascades and an elegant bar that plays with the traditional form of the baradari (a columned, open pavilion), it is the perfect place to conclude your visit to the Museum.
If you would prefer to grab a meal on-the-go, we also have a Snack Bar at Amba Pol that serves sandwiches, snacks, pastries and beverages.
Accessibility
We aim to facilitate the maximum physical and intellectual access to our buildings and collections, and use the ‘Jaipur Declaration’ of 2016 for guidance. Our efforts are a work in progress, and we welcome your feedback. Please write to outreach@royaljaipur.in. You can download a copy of the Declaration here.
Visitor Information:
- The museum entry points allow visitors to be dropped off directly at the main gate, from where visitors with limited mobility may request a golf cart ride or a wheelchair.
- The golf cart takes you to the three important courtyards housing most of the important galleries.
- The surfaces leading to the major attractions in the City Palace are ramped and surfaced for wheelchair movement.
- We have a comprehensive guide book for the visually impaired, and are perhaps the first private trust in India to do so. This book is in open Braille script, large script font and has tactile images. We also offer a copy of the bound Braille script at cost, which can be purchased at the Museum Shop as well as the ticket counters.
- As gesture of courtesy, the Museum offers a free audio guide to visually impaired visitors.
- The Sculpture Lumiere show that is part of the Museum at Night experience allows visitors with a hearing impairment to experience the glorious history and magnificence of Jaipur, this complex and its rulers through visuals, sound, and text.
- A wheelchair-accessible toilet is will shortly be available in the Mubarak Mahal courtyard.
- Some galleries have a few displays which all visitors can touch. This is a new initiative for us, and we hope to expand this to include all our galleries over the next few years.
- Museum orientation brochures carry a plan of the City Palace complex. This plan is also designed to cater to the needs of visitors with a partial visual impairment.
- The orientation and information signage around the complex is bi-lingual and includes Braille and tactile panels.
- The website aims for international standards of accessibility.
- The Royal Grandeur tour is partially wheelchair-accessible. Please ask at the ticket counter when booking tickets, or let us know before you arrive.
- We run a series of free gallery talks by various experts, specialists and volunteers to interpret the collections in new ways. Please join our mailing list or follow us on Facebook to find out when the next talk is.
- We have specially designed packs to engage younger visitors with an interactive learning experience. These can be bought at the ticket counter for use before a visit, or at the Museum Shop, and are free for the children of our staff in order to encourage outreach within the organization.
